Don't let the crowds
plan your day for you.
USJ gets extremely busy. Queues build, transportation fills up, and popular areas may require timed entry. A little preparation means more time enjoying the park and less time figuring things out.
Find the best time to visitDon’t know what to bring? Bring these.
Summer in Osaka is seriously humid, and winter can be cold and dry. A few small items can make long outdoor lines much easier—especially if you aren’t used to Japan’s weather.

Download the official USJ app.
Strongly recommended before you go. It's one of the most useful tools for navigating a busy day at Universal Studios Japan.
Check attraction wait times and show schedules, use the park map, and request Timed Entry eTickets when available and required. Download it before your visit, then check its features and park notifications on the day. Some tickets can only be obtained after entering the park.
See USJ's official app instructions ↗Free download; mobile internet required. USJ currently lists iOS 17+ or Android 9+ as minimum requirements. App functions and entry-ticket availability may vary by date and device.
Last questions
before you go?
Practical answers researched from USJ visitor policies and local transportation guidance.
Official USJ FAQs ↗Do I need an Express Pass?+
No. A regular Studio Pass includes park admission and access to eligible attractions, but an Express Pass is a separate purchase that can shorten selected queues. Compare the specific attractions and timed-entry conditions before buying.
Can I enter Super Nintendo World without a separate ticket?+
Entry can require an Area Timed Entry Ticket, Standby Entry Ticket, or advance-guaranteed access, depending on the day. From January 5, 2026, same-day area tickets are handled through the official USJ app. Check availability as soon as you enter.
Does USJ really open before its published opening time?+
Sometimes, yes. The official operating-hours page explicitly says admission may begin ahead of the scheduled time. It is never guaranteed, so our recommendation is to arrive 60–90 minutes before the published time if early rides are a priority.
What time do ticket booths open?+
USJ says ticket booths generally open 45 minutes before the park’s listed opening time and close two hours before the park closes. Hours may change without notice, so buying admission online beforehand is easier.
Can I go back to my hotel and return later?+
Usually no. Standard Studio Passes do not permit re-entry after you leave the park. Annual Passes have different rules. Plan meals, breaks and any luggage storage accordingly.
Can I bring my own food and water?+
USJ asks guests not to bring outside food or drinks, but contained water is permitted. There are special arrangements for certain guest needs; consult official park rules if you have dietary or medical requirements.
